ONE MILLION MEMBERS WORLDWIDE

Rotary International is a world wide voluntary service organisation. It meets in over 163 countries and has over 1 million members with over 59,000 in the UK alone. The Rotary Club of Fulham is part of this network and a member of Fulham Rotary can attend any Rotary Club throughout the world. Rotary International also has a full time representative at the United Nations. Rotary works world wide. Projects it has initiated and supported include the world wide eradication of polio in all the countries.

£15 MILLION RAISED

Annually more than £15 million was raised by Rotarians in Great Britain and Ireland for good causes in addition to the time given by Rotarians in support of Community projects at local, national and international levels.

ROTARY BRITAIN (RIBI)

Rotary in Great Britain and all Ireland is administered under its own constitution and administrative unit known as RIBI (Rotary in Britain and Ireland). RIBI traces its beginning as an organisation to 1914, though some of the Clubs in the British Isles and Ireland date back to 1911. Since 1916 all Rotary Clubs in Great Britain and Ireland have been members of both the international and the British Rotary Associations, the latter being recognised in 1922 as an administrative territorial unit within Rotary International. However the constitution of RIBI at all times operates within the spirit and provisions of Rotary International.

MEMBERSHIP

The RIBI headquarters are at Alcester, Warwickshire. Rotary membership is open to business and professional men and women and those who can be regarded as leaders in the community. Subscriptions are on the whole determined by individual clubs but always contain a proportion payable to their Districts and to RI. More information can be found on the Rotary website at www.rotary.org or specifically for RIBI at www.ribi.org

PROJECTS

The Rotary Club of Fulham has helped a number of local charities and organisations and international charities and causes that do not have sufficient Government or lottery funding. It is pleased that its recent golf day enabled the Club to give £2,000 to the recently built children's hospice Chase at Guildford. The Club also gave a further £2,000 to the Fulham based "Colon Cancer Concern" charity which helps raise public awareness over colon cancer and researches into colon cancer and preventative measures.

The Club is interested in hearing about local good causes to support, especially those which do not have any other funding. It also is interested in international causes and has supported in particular an Eastern European children's home.
